Engine input shaft

This is an engine output shaft (power take-off shaft) supplied as a component for Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor’s new‑energy vehicles. Made from 20CrMnTi alloy carburized steel, it serves as a core element in the vehicle’s powertrain, transmitting torque from the engine or electric motor. It combines high strength, excellent wear resistance, and superior fatigue resistance, making it well suited to the heavy‑load, cyclic operating conditions of new‑energy vehicles and ensuring stable, reliable power transmission.
  • Product Description
  • 1. Basic Information and Positioning

    • Target Audience : Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile’s new-energy vehicles (hybrid and plug-in hybrid models) are used in the power‑train system to transmit torque between the engine, the drive motor, and the transmission.
    • Component Role : The core output shaft component of the powertrain, responsible for transmitting power from the engine or electric motor to the transmission and drivetrain. It serves as a critical link in the powertrain, directly influencing vehicle transmission efficiency, power response, and operational reliability.
    • Supply Attribute : A specialized shaft component designed to match Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile’s requirements, conforming to the installation dimensions, fit tolerances, and performance specifications of its new‑energy vehicle models. It can directly replace the original equipment, ensuring compatibility and consistency with the drivetrain.

    2. Material and Process Characteristics

    • Materials :20CrMnTi Low-carbon alloy carburizing steel is a classic material for heavy-duty shaft components.
    • Heat treatment process: Employed Carburizing and quenching + low-temperature tempering Treatment: The hardness of critical areas such as the journal, bearing surfaces, and spline sections can reach HRC58-63 The core maintains high toughness while exhibiting excellent wear resistance, contact fatigue strength, and impact resistance, making it well-suited to the demanding operating conditions of new‑energy vehicles—high rotational speeds, high torque, and cyclic loading.
    • Manufacturing Process: Employing precision turning, grinding, spline hobbing, and dynamic balancing to ensure tight tolerances for dimensional accuracy, coaxiality, and runout, thereby guaranteeing high‑precision mating with bearings, gears, and clutches, reducing transmission noise and vibration, and enhancing operational efficiency and service life.

    3. Structural Features

    • Overall structure : Integrated stepped shaft design, incorporating a splined section, journal section, locating shoulder, and flange structure, suitable for the installation and positioning of engine/motor and transmission components.
    • Functional Segmentation :
    • One end features a splined/teeth‑type coupling section: designed to connect with the engine or motor’s output shaft or with a clutch, it transmits high torque. The splined design ensures reliable power transmission and prevents slippage.
    • Intermediate journal section: Designed for mounting bearings, gears, and other transmission components; its surface undergoes high-precision grinding to meet the fit requirements of high-speed bearings, thereby reducing friction and wear. The stepped transition design effectively prevents stress concentration, enhancing fatigue resistance.
    • The other end serves as the power output section: it features a flange or spline configuration to connect with the transmission/drive system, transmitting power to the wheels and ensuring continuous, stable power delivery.
    • The shaft body is equipped with locating holes and oil holes, which serve to axially locate components or provide lubrication, thereby meeting the assembly and lubrication requirements of the transmission system.

    4. Performance and Application Value

    • Core Advantages : The 20CrMnTi material and carburizing‑quenching process enable this shaft to withstand cyclic loads, impact loads, and torsional stresses under the mixed‑mode operating conditions of new‑energy vehicles, minimizing deformation, fracture, and wear. Precision machining and dynamic balancing ensure low‑vibration, low‑noise operation of the drivetrain, thereby enhancing transmission efficiency and the vehicle’s overall power performance.
    • Compatible Scenarios The engine output shaft and power‑transmission shaft of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor’s hybrid and plug‑in hybrid models, as well as the motor output shaft components compatible with certain pure‑electric vehicles, are critical core components that ensure the stable operation of the vehicle’s powertrain.
